Meet Joan
I joined Inspire in July 2025 as a Manager, where I oversee team workflows, assist with complex tax queries, and mentor junior accountants. My main goal is to ensure we deliver quality outcomes for clients while helping our team members grow and build confidence in their work.
Even though it’s only been a few months since I joined, I already feel at home. Our team is fun, young, and incredibly supportive. Everyone’s always willing to lend a hand – whether it’s with a tricky technical question or just life advice. It’s a culture of collaboration that I truly value.
What I find most fulfilling is helping clients solve complex tax issues and mentoring others to achieve their own professional and personal goals. Seeing clients satisfied and our team members grow brings me so much joy.
Outside of Inspire
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family – my husband, John, and our two kids, Emily (11) and Ethan (13). We enjoy playing board games, going to the gym together, and finding fun activities to do as a family.
We also have a big, lovable Labradoodle named Simba, who’s now seven years old. He used to go on long runs with John and daily walks with my parents when they visited from China, but these days he’s more of a cuddly homebody – though still full of energy!
Fun Fact About You That We Don’t Know
I love being outdoors – hiking, playing tennis, and badminton are some of my favourite activities. My husband and I often go on hikes with friends, exploring beautiful places like Springbrook, Mount Mitchell, and Mount Warning (which I’ll admit, I couldn’t finish. It was tougher than expected!).
What Is Your Favourite Thing About Working at Inspire?
What I love most about Inspire is how inclusive and fair it is. Ben and the leadership team give everyone equal opportunities to grow, no matter their background, gender, or level of experience.
You don’t always see that in other workplaces. Here, everyone’s treated with respect and encouraged to take on challenges, and that kind of trust and equality makes me proud to be part of Inspire.
Which Sustainable Development Goal(s) Do You Choose and Why?
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Sustainability is something I care deeply about. At home, I do my best to reduce waste -composting food scraps in our garden, growing fruits and vegetables, and sorting recyclables properly. I’ve also tried to pass these habits on to my kids, and I’m glad to see their school teaching them to care for the environment too.
I believe that if we all do our part – even in small ways – we can make the planet more liveable for future generations.
